GEO and AEO

Generative engine optimization with numbers instead of promises

A growing share of questions in your category now get answered without a click. The useful response is not panic and it is not a guarantee that ChatGPT will name you. It is making your pages easy to extract, your facts consistent everywhere an engine can check them, and your citation share something you actually measure rather than assume.

WHAT YOU GET

What GEO work actually consists of

Most of this is unglamorous and none of it is a trick. The advantage comes from doing it deliberately while competitors are still arguing about whether it is real.

Extractable answers

Passages that stand alone when lifted out of the page. A paragraph that only makes sense after the three above it cannot be quoted.

Entity disambiguation

Being a resolvable thing rather than a name. Consistent facts, real external references, and schema that matches the visible copy.

Corroboration

Engines discount self-declared claims. The same facts appearing on sources they already trust does more than any amount of on-page assertion.

Retrieval foundations

Crawlability, rendering, and structure. A page an engine cannot fetch or parse is not a candidate for citation regardless of quality.

Citation measurement

Brand and page appearance across a fixed prompt set, tracked over time and against competitors. The only honest progress report.

Prompt-space research

The questions people actually ask an assistant differ from what they type into a search box. Those are the questions worth answering.

HOW IT WORKS

Baseline first, then move the number

Measurement is set up before any changes, so improvement is demonstrated rather than asserted. A scoped engagement runs 4 to 8 weeks.

01

Baseline

A fixed prompt set for your category, run across engines, recording who gets cited today. This is the number everything is judged against.

02

Entity work

Make the company a resolvable entity: consistent facts across every source, correct references, schema the copy corroborates.

03

Restructure

Rework the pages that should be cited so their answers survive extraction, with the question answered before the context.

04

Re-measure

Run the same prompt set on a schedule. Citation share moves or it does not, and either way you see it.

What we will not tell you about GEO

No engine documents how it selects sources for a generated answer. There is no submission process, no ranking API, and no public commitment about what earns a citation. Anyone presenting a definitive ranking-factor list for generative engines has invented it, and the confident ones are the ones to be most careful with.

What is defensible is narrower. Content that answers a question directly is easier to quote than content that builds to a point. Facts that agree across every source an engine can check are safer to repeat than facts that appear in one place. An entity with real external references is easier to resolve than a name. None of that is a ranking factor claim, and all of it is cheap to do well.

So the honest pitch is this: the techniques are low cost and low risk, the mechanism is undocumented, and the measurement is real. We do the work, report the citation share, and tell you when it has not moved. The alternative on offer elsewhere is a guarantee about a system nobody outside those companies can see.

  • Citation share measured against a fixed prompt set, not keyword rankings
  • No guarantees offered about placement inside any engine
  • Schema that the visible copy corroborates, never markup-only claims
  • Classic technical SEO treated as the prerequisite it is
